Olympic Controversies :: Political Politics
Olympic ControversiesThe most important thing at the Olympic Games is not to win, alone to take part, just as the important thing somewhat life is not to conquer but to struggle well. The words spoken by capital of South Dakota de Coubertin, father of the Modern Summer Olympic Games. Baron Pierre de Coubertin may have intended for the new Olympic Games to be a period of concord in which all differences of status, religion, politics and race would be forgotten but unfortunately as the Games have progressed, so too have the political overtones associated with them. Baron Pierre de Coubertin, by reviving the ancient Olympic Games hoped that competition in sports would lead to a new international friendship and better cooperation amongst the nations, whilst also allowing athletes to be exposed to different values than those of their own. It is with misfortune that the Olympic Games have taken an unanticipated turn and are used time and time again as another measurement for the ultimat e victory, the ultimate dominance, the ultimate triumph on the populace stage. In the commotion of the promotion of the Olympic Games, it is often forgotten that the original principles of the games included that individuals were to be contested against one another, and that countries played no part. In fact, in the first Olympiads, there were no formal teams of nations, rather an assortment of individuals who came to Athens on their own expense for their own purposes. As the Olympic Games progressed, it became to a greater extent and more apparent for participating nations that it was an excellent opportunity to promote their country. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the Olympic Games is relayed to countries all over the world, exposing it onto a world audience. Even forrader technological advances of television, the Olympic Games were used by the countries to elevate themselves amongst one another. Even in the first Olympiad of 1896 in Athens, the realisation of the chance or promotion was evident, the Greek royal family of George I used the games as a device to build its power. In addition, when television was initially introduced, the prospect of exposure was heightened. Although television was first used to publicise images from one country to another in the Summer Olympic Games of 1960 in Rome, it was further intensified in 1964 in Tokyo. The mayor of Tokyo announced that without the Olympics, japan would not have risen to its high position so fast.

Consumer Paper     I allow for have to worry about umpteen things later in life, but to get started after college I exit need to live somewhere other than my parents home. Therefore, I intend on moving out of my parents house when the time comes. There get out be many aspects of moving out that I will have to look at before jumping out into the "real world". It will be a scary step, but it will need to be taken sooner or later.     Before making a decision about my new home, I will need to check on my finances. I plan on living in San Diego or San Francisco when I first settle on my own. Those both cities (assuming that I live in a nice area) will be very expensive. San Diego will be about $1500 a month and San Francisco will be about $2000 a month. Those figures are non including my utility bill ($150), cable bill ($80), internet provider bill ($20), and phone line bill ($30) adding the 4 of those together will give me another $280 bill on top of the rent. I will not be able to afford that on my own, which brings me to the snatch requirement a roommate.     I will have to escort someone who is as financially reliable as my self. I will not be able to pay for both of our rents, therefore my room mate will need to have the rent on time, every time. Not only will the person need to have all of their finances in order, they will have to be very reliable as well. I do not really want a room mate, but I will not be able to afford the rent on my own.     Now that I have all of my financial issues in order I will need to find a place to live. It will be hard to find a place that fits all of my needs. While starting out I will have to look in the newspaper. My mother is a real farming agent so she will be able to find me a place if later on I decided to buy. My roommate and I will most likely end up searching in the newspaper among other possibilities. I think the hardest part of finding an apartment will be agreeing with my room mate.     In the process of renting an apartment there will be a large opportunity cost.

Sources of Finance for a Business Essay -- Papers
Sources of Finance for a Business For a business to successfully run, it must have sources of finance. These are methods of financing the speed of the business, buying of stock and paying of workers. Small businesses and large businesses have different sources of finance. In this section, I will discuss the different sources of finance used by small and large businesses, and the expediencys and disadvantages of each, starting with small businesses. Setting up a business costs money. For instance, setting up a bakery involves buying or renting a shop and buying stocks of flour and so on. One source of finance for a new business is candour or blondness capital. This is money which is put into the business by its owners. The baker for instance, may have savings of 20,000 which are used to buy a lease on a shop and start a repair proprietorship. They may also go into a partnership with another person, with each putting in 10,000 of their own savings. Th e advantage of using equity capital is that, as it is the owners money, no extra cost or interest is charged when using it. The problem with equity capital is that it is difficult to gather in the first place. It is often difficult for small and medium sized businesses to find individuals to provide equity. Or, if the business is a sole proprietorship, the owner may be short of money to provide equity. Retained profit is also the most important source of finance for large businesses in the UK. Once the business has been set up, it will want to make a profit. This profit is owned by the owners of the business. Retained or undistributed profit is where these simoleons are kept back for us... ...ho set up their own businesses. They also provide training and support. Other grants are available to businesses which operate in areas of unkept income and high unemployment. Grants are good for businesses because they are given for free, with no interest or paym ent charges. However, they are fairly uncommon for everyday businesses and are hardly given to businesses which need the boost in funds. For a business to succeed, it needs to find the right balance of finance. It is important that it is well-placed to survive any financial problems it expertness go through. In my business, it is vital to call for out extensive research to ensure that I will have the right amount of funds to carry out everyday running of the business. If this does not happen and I do not find the correct sources of finance then my business will fail.

Letters Home The vid screen is glum and ominous, as if it holds secrets that is not for the likes of men to k flat. John Poldeck, a middle aged, balding man of forty-eight go forward toward screen and console to activate the beast, this oracle of silicon, plastic, and glass. Today John is hoping for word of his son Kirk, of whom nothing had been heard of since he left for UNDF Marine corps training at Camp Lejune, South Carolina, a beacon for the phony tough and crazy brave looking for ill conceived adventure and glory. At to the lowest degree that was Johns opinion on the matter. As a mid level market analyst for the transnational ABSCOM John was used to battles fought with market shares, proportion sheets, and stock options. For the forty years since the birth of the revamped United Nations war and the conductors of war, the military, had been a dying business. John could still remember the eager look on Kirks face when his son had uttered words like, duty, honor, patrio tism, words which seemed as alien to John as the worlds the UN exploratory fleet claimed to have found. For Christs involvement John will you turn on the damn console? What the hell is wrong with you today? John glanced at June, his wife of twenty years and counting. Her dark skinned face was a sharp contrast to his pale complexion, and anger, tinged with concern for her son, clouded and darkened her visage even more. He looked at his wife without comprehension. What? June sighed, and and so in a kinder tone, The console John. I know youve been angry ever since Kirk left for the Marines, hell youve been mad ever since he first brought up enlisting. A fools errand you called it. Perhaps youre right. All I know is that he might have sent us a letter today. A fools errand. I remember when I said that John thought. That had been a nasty episode, one of many that had occurred during one of the endless fights he had had with Kirk all over this business of enlisting. Try how he might he could never convince his son that business was where the opportunities were. Kirk had then coldly informed his father of his contempt for the Transnationals that now ran everything on Earth, including the UN, and his contempt for anybody connected to them.

Matilda and How She Belongs Essay
The film Matilda is a clear representation of the concept of belonging, the ideas that be conveyed in the film are relevant to belonging by how they are displayed. The ideas of belonging in Matilda are that Matilda doesnt belong in her family, Matilda finds a nose out of familial belonging with Ms Honey, Matilda finds a sense of familial belonging but with classmates and that the catalyst for belonging is the personality of Ms Trunchbull, it creates a sense of unity for the class giving them a purpose. These ideas of belonging are described by the use of camera angles, tone, quotes and the use of narration. From the start of the film you come to realise that Matilda doesnt relate or is equal to connect to her family. This relates to belonging that Matilda doesnt belong to her own family she doesnt connect, this is demonstrated in the quotes Are you in this family? Mmmm Hello? Are you in this family? Im fed up with all this reading Youre a Wormwood, you start acting like one Now sit up and look at the TV this quote is telling us that she loves reading but her family love watching television so the father questions her daughters belonging in this family.Throughout the depiction the use of tone and colour with what Matilda and her family stretch forths indicates the separation between her and her family, an example of this is that Matilda wears articulate clothing like the bow in her hair and the violet dresses but her family wear suits and cocktail dresses like those that wear on the television which are superficial that they idealise so much. So there are clear differences between her and her family. Matilda finds a sense of familial belonging with Ms Honey. When Matilda first enters her classroom she gets a strong sense of belonging with her teacher Ms honey, because she is drawn in by her fervid kind hearted nature. Matilda finds a sense of belonging through the shine that Ms honey exudes, she also relates to Ms honey and the Choice of clothing is very similar. Matilda and Ms honey have a relatable childhood with them both having a barbaric narrow minded parent/guardian. The catalyst for belonging is the personality of Ms Trunchbull, she creates a sense of tyranny for the class and the school. Her demeanour and insidious punishments for children get alongs the average school life a living hell, this hatred and ill-behaviour towards the children gives a unity to over attain her. This is demonstrated through particular motion pictures. The scene where trunchball holds an assembly for Bruce Bogtroter stealing some of her chocolate cake, so she tries to set an example, but that foolishly backfires when the school unites and cheers on Bruce. This scene and the use of uplifting music, the constant repetition of Bruce and that Trunchball gets no response makes her feel powerless and now the children are all working together and that scares Trunchball. So the children pass on to get rid of trunchball and it works there by their common goal brought them together. Matilda is a great example of belonging and not-belonging, its ideas about it and how they are represented make it a good piece for my analysis. So the concept of belonging can be found anywhere from simply being different to your family or to reach out to see your principal overthrown, so what go you belong or not belong too.

Porter five forces Essay
Content1. Introduction2. Explanation of the doorkeeper Model3. Porters five forces gondola sedulousness4. Conclusion and weaknesses1. IntroductionAudi scoreIt all began with August Horch, one of Germanys pioneering personalities automobile engineers. He set up business on his own in 1899, establishing Horch & Cie. Motorwagen Werke in Cologne on November 14 of that course. August Horch left the company in 1909 and immediately established a second car company in Zwickau. Because his surname was already in use and was protected by trademark, he chose its Latin translation for the raw(a) company. So horch or hark became audi. The Audi brand established a tradition of sporting achievement from the very outset. Thanks to his victorious involvement in the Austrian Alpine Runs between 1911 and 1914, August Horch succeeded in making Audi internationally known at heart just a few years. The Audi four-ring emblem symbolises the merger in 1932 of four previously independent motor-vehicl e manufacturers Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. In 1969 railroad car Union GmbH amalgamated with NSU Motorenwerke AG. 1Audi pecuniary situationThe revenue in 2013 is 49,880 ERU million, which is higher than that in 2012(48,711 ERU million). Operating income in 2013 is 1,952 ERU million, which is too higher than 2012. With 1,575,480 Audi vehicles sold over the course of the past fiscal year (2013), the volume target of 1.5 million deliveries originally envisaged for 2015waseasilly Exceeded, two years ahead of schedule. 2The reasonI subscribe to analyze porter five forces of Audi, because I ilk the appearance of Audi SUV Q5 and Q7. And I deserve to own my car in the few years when I cause enough money. Thus, for me, it has some help that I relieve oneself the knowledge of the background.2. Explanation of the Porter ModelPorter five forces analysis is a framework for industry analysis and business strategy study. It draws upon industrial makeup (IO) economics to derive five fo rces that determine the competitive intensity and therefore attractiveness of a market. Attractiveness in this context refers to the overall industry profitability. An plain industry is one in which the combination of these five forces acts to drive down overall profitability. A very unattractive industry would be one draw close pure competition, in which avail sufficient profits for all firms argon driven to normal profit. This analysis is associated with its principal innovator Michael E. Porter of Harvard University (as of 2014).3. Porters five forces Automobile industryBarriers to EntryCapital requirementsThe amount of capital required to start a car company is enormous. For the average person, they cant come along and start manufacturing automobiles. As to build an auto firm, they need many factors like the site, labor and the support of technology, which be obtain by capital. Thus, the capital is the biggest factor for the intro of auto firm.TechnologyTechnology also is an import factor to build the auto firm. It is complicated non only for the auto firm itself, also for the drive suppliers. As we know, production of the cars cant complete by the auto firm, which has significant influence by the automotive suppliers. Meanwhile, ideas and technology that provides competitive advantage over others when patented, preventing others from using it and thus creates barrier to entry.CompetitionThere ar already significant good established competitors. Globalization the tendency of world investment and businesses to move from national and municipal markets to a worldwide environment, is a huge factor affecting the auto market. Thus, many auto firms argon able to compete with the others from domestic markets to the world. Competition will become more unfounded than the past.Government regulations and policiesAlthough administrations job is to preserve free competitive market, it restricts competition through regulations and restrictions. Thus, governmen t regulations are a big part of barriers for the auto industry. Automobile firms need to observe safety design, emission standards and fuel efficiency by government. And different countries make up various policies and restriction on automobile industry for instance Economic Commission of Europe.Marketing a newfangled brandMarketing a new brand can be difficult. Not only distribution costs and marking costs are very expensive, but race cannot easy to eat up a new brand especially auto brand. People will be worried on the performance and safety of cars. For this reason, marking a new brand is a barrier to entry automobile industry.Bargaining Power of SuppliersFor automotive suppliers, there are two different situations which due to different talk terms force-out. Firstly, some strong suppliers (e.g. BOSCH, DENSO) possess big discourse power to auto companies and the market, as they supply many products for a number of auto companies (not only Audi). The suppliers have more mar ket share than the others and much revenue. And the products of the suppliers have patents and are not able to replace through changing the suppliers. If there are few suppliers providing corporal essential to make a product then they can set the price high to capture more profit. Powerful suppliers can squeeze industry profitability to great extend. Thus, auto companies are vulnerable to the suppliers. Secondly, some suppliers are often small and medium size, whereas car companies are large and globalized. Many suppliers are dependent on a single car manufacturer, as they just have the capacity of supplying a litter product. Moreover, aswe know, globalization has greatly increased the possibility to poorer-cost but suitable suppliers. If an automaker decided to switch suppliers, it could be devastating to the previous suppliers business. As a result, suppliers are extremely susceptible to the demands and requirements of the automobile manufacturer. For many years, the relationship between assemblers and suppliers has been straightforward. Because each(prenominal) car was designed from scratch and seen by the automaker as a ludicrous product, all investments in solutions and technologies for new models were undertaken by the automaker. Given this market setting, it is easy to conclude from the above discussion that no role existed for the supplier at the development level. At the manufacturing stage, particularly for simpler parts where there was a well-developed market, subcontracting would naturally occur. 3 For this reason, Audi AG has significant power to these suppliers.Bargaining Power of customersFor Audi cars, customers may be distinguished by the power of economic function. While consumers are very price sensitive, they dont have much buying power as they never corrupt huge volumes of cars. However, the price is not a main factor for the people who have capacity of buying luxury cars. The customer can freely choose the product that best fits its p references, status and lifestyle among many. Customers can find many different brands and car models in the market, paying attention to widely differing performance, quality, appearance, pricing, additional features.Customers have substantial power, mainly because of the large variety of luxury brands and product to choose from, and because of the presence of substitutes. The presence of many substitutes to luxury cars enhances significantly the bargaining power of potential drop customers. Buyers have the power to demand lower price or higher product quality from industry producers when their bargaining power is strong. 4 On the other hand, it is verifying to help the auto firms develop and promote themselves.Threat of substitute productsSubstitute products have two different types. Other types of transport can fulfil the re-sentencing of demand, such as motorbikes, bicycles, public transportation systems, planes. To personal considerations, people will find substitute products. Jogging and bicycle can give people a healthylifestyle, while protects environment by choosing transport. While we analyze porter five forces of Audi, we should consider not only other types of transport for substitute products, also concern cars themselves. As customers choose cars of other brands in the marker, which replaces the cars of Audi. If we consider the problems which use other brands to substitute the Audi, we will find the relativity between bargaining power of customers, threat of substitute products and competitive rivalry. With increasing number of substitute products, bargaining power of customers and competitive rivalry will become increase at the same(p) time. For Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are the most obvious substitutes in the market of mid-luxury cars. Or either higher-end cars which ultra-luxury brands (such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Bentley)and the other end of the spectrum, less expensive cars from non-luxury brands (such as Toyota, Ford, Fiat, GM) are able to participate in the competition. Actually, the distinction between luxury cars and non-luxury cars itself is rather blurred sometimes. Pressure of the bad economic climate induces customers to choose less expensive cars, as their income decreases and expectations on the future worsen. Thus, threat of substitute products change with demand of our lives and the situation of economy.Competitive rivalryThe rivalry between companies is rather penetrating, especially between the tierce global leaders Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. It is not simple that three companies have competitive rivalry. Because trends that are not radical that you lose touch with the market, but that go out-of-the-way(prenominal) enough that the market is prepared to follow. 2 It means a little mistake will make the auto firms lose its market. The three companies explicitly recognize each other as competitors, and their public statements and advertising campaigns make provocative comparison between the cars as to performance and innovativeness. Technological innovation is one of the fields of fiercer competition, as each of them claims to be technological leader in the industry. As previously said, substitute products will intensify competitive rivalry. With the development of Asian market, there are new luxury brands taking part in competition, such as Lexus, Infiniti and Acura. As we can see, competitive rivalry will be more intense that the past.Audi weaknessesAudi is clearly aiming to be a leader in automotive sustainability and is therefore stronger for it. Investment into production and vehicle technology can only increase the auto makers potential to become carbon-neutral. Investment into new technology could also be the cause for Audis biggest weakness its cars reliability issues. Fitting complex electronic systems to every single one of its new cars, Audi has received a poor rating in many aspects of reliability. 5 The other weakness is about design oral communicati on of cars of Audi. For the normal people who are not really into cars, they cant really point out the differences between the A4 and the A6. Therefore, Audi need to make their productions diversified. In Audi yearly report 2013, trends that are not radical that you lose touch with the market, but that go far enough that the market is prepared to follow.2 Thus, Audi need to find a balance between trends, technology and design.ConclusionFor the average person, they cant come along and start manufacturing automobiles. The barriers are so high to the average person. Of course, Audi is not worried about barriers to entry. For Audi, bargaining power of suppliers are mutative depend on different suppliers, but overall bargaining power of suppliers at low position. As the suppliers and automotive firms they support each other. Then when we focus on bargaining power of customers, threat of substitute products and competitive rivalry, there is an interesting phenomenon. As previously said, i f we consider the problems which use other brands to substitute the Audi, we will find the relativity between bargaining power of customers, threat of substitute products and competitive rivalry. Thus, when people find they have many substitute products to Audi cars, bargaining power of customers, threat of substitute products and competitive rivalry are high. Auto industry has many barriers and violent competition rivalry which not be limited in mid-luxury cars market. Meanwhile, there are many difficulties and challenges, as the situation of global economy is not well that the past. However, with appearing the burgeoning Asian market, such as China and India, auto industry has many chances to develop themselves or walking away fromdifficulties.Reference1 Audi History (n.d.) online, addressable http//www.audi.com/corporate/en/company/history/videos.html accessed 18 May 2014. 2 Audi Annual Report 2013 (n.d.) online, available http//www.audi-reports.com/ar2013/ accessed 18 May 2014. 3 Fixson, S. This was meant to promote learning mingled with young people in groups especially the early childhood children. The ICT system was to support every child applications to enhance the function given by their educators or teachers. The system had to be aditible through out the learning time to ensure all children and their teachers have reliable access to the required services. There is a data management system used to filter traffic and this has been used to ensure all the mails received through the network are free from any threat. This has made the system allow for s toring learning materials hence no need of buying or carrying them. Computer and internet access has served both the parents and teachers the cost of buying such learning materials to ensure quality services to the children. In addition it a stress free way of educating the children. These children gets to learn a lot making them get much prepared for the future (Ministry of Education, 2008).Studies show that there are computer based centers or libraries where children can be taken to get such services. In New Zealand, the home based early childhood centers have achieved this very easily. The programs have been made in to video recording tape or DVD players and watched in televisions at homes. This is encouraging to a child since they will find it as easy as reflection the TV programs or playing games in their play stations. The programs encourage s both the learners and the trainers participation (Ministry of Education, 2008).Latest research show that early Childhood Education r equires cognitive teaching aids. By using technology, the children will get access to many materials that can be used to help them relate what they have learnt to life experiences. It is also advantageous to the parents in that their children can easily access trainings form anywhere (Ministry of Education, 2008). With the computers and a reliable network access, these children can now access such services at home. This saves the parents from looking for good schools for their children. The childrens progress records can be accessed over the internet.According to latest reports from Ministry of Education (2008), New Zealand ICT has formed the foundation of Early Childhood Education. This called for multimedia network service provider. The New Zealand government has introduced ICT use in their curriculum that has enhanced Early Childhood Education in this nation. cyberspace access use has enhanced communication between parents and the teachers. It has also engaged the parents in pro viding such services hence quality childhood care is cognizant amongst children in New Zealand. The web based learning materials is an added opportunity for the children.Currently, the web has made the children get access to a well developed and managed learning process (Ministry of Education, 2008). This has expanded the childs area of interest and has provided a new dimension to their learning capabilities. Teachers can take advantage of internet to provide a wide range of teaching resources or aids to the children hence an added opportunity to develop him/ her self professionally.According to Ministry of Education (2008), a standard has been formed to ensure the ICT usage in Early Childhood Education is universally applicable in all communities. This ensures quality services that are accessible anywhere all over the world. The standards also assure the teachers if the easy maintainability requirements of the ICT systems. Standardization will also make it easy for the trainers to be able to have the required qualifications to operate any such systems. The systems should be highly reliable to promote the learners and others users confidence.Studies have shown that the introduction of computers in schools has been cost effective. It has reduced the paper work involved in holding records especially in the Early Childhood centers. With the little children it is a times very hard to help them take care of their property. By using computer systems, record keeping has been improved. Computers provide very convenient and secure data storages. Information collected and stored in the computers can be easily shared or transferred through the internet or using the portable data storage devices like CDs or flash disks (Ministry of Education, 2008).The ICT system is well protected physically. A firewall has been strengthened and antivirus software installed to ensures data security. The system has been protected from any internal and external attacks. This makes it th e best for the Early Childhood Education services (Ministry of Education, 2008). The student details will be safe, easily managed hence reduced workload for the teachers in maintaining orderliness.Latest studies show that data recovery systems have been used to help recover user data in case of any disaster. The auto-recovery system is good for the children (Ministry of Education, 2008). At their age they can easily tamper with the information in the computers hence to help track down their progress. At this age also, the children may tend to be very care less with their work or they just dont feel interested in learning. This is an alternative way to engage all of them. Through using computers and every childs work can be saves, this provides an easier way of monitoring the childs work.Teachers can make it to manage more than one or a big class remotely using networked computers. This an added advantage to both the teachers and the children. Every child will be able to receive the teachers attention or facilitate communication between the learner and the teacher (Ministry of Education, 2008). With the technology enhancements, the network is sound enabled with web cameras and UVC (USB Video Class) to allow for video chats sessions (Ministry of Education, 2008). This provides an easier way to teach the children. They will be listening and watching the actions and hence learn form them.Conclusion.From this study I would conclude that Information communication technology (ICT) has contributed a lot to the Early Childhood Education in the New Zealand (Ministry of education, 2008). Children have been introduced to computers at such a tender age and this will be a greater future for this nation. The children will be more creative and innovative to learn and use technology. This will enhance their productivity to the nation hence improve their economy. Technology use is cost effective, efficient and proves output quality. The New Zealand has invested much on their c hildren as the future generation of the nation. In New Zealand all the teachers providing to Early Childhood Education are therefore pass judgment to attend the right trains to ensure quality education to the children. The success of ICT system in ECE in New Zealand is as a result of these teachers. It is therefore appropriate for all teachers to be computer literate to benefit from introduction of technology use in our learning institutions. As a matter of fact, the children tend to imitate their teachers (Arataki, 2002) and so the teachers should be the first to understand well the technological advances. If the teachers are up to date with the technology applications then the children are assured of a endless improvement on the quality of education they get from the teacher. The New Zealand government should therefore ensure the teachers go for trainings occasionally to up date their experience or knowledge on technology applications. The New Zealands 2012 vision on Early Childh ood Education is achievable.ReferenceArataki, N.H. 2002, Ministry of Education. Emersonââ¬â¢s Essay On Heroism Essay
The first and most important implicit question in this statement is by what standards Emerson is judging a crampfishand whether it even matters, as he seems to be saying that a hero is a hero despite anything else. This assertion is false, however, because there is inevitably, not only in the actions of heroes but also in those of antiheroes, an element of situation and circumstance that either augments or diminishes their capacity for good.In 1984 by George Orwell, protagonist Winston Smith is, from what the reader heap tell, the only individual (with the exception of his compatriot Julia) in his Big Brother society who sees anything wrong with the tactics employed by the government and, subsequently, who attempts to do anything to protest. This alone could conciliate a reasonable definition of a hero in an evil culture, he is the only one fighting for good, but he continues nonetheless. For the majority of the novel, Winston is for sure a hero as he fights the system at the end, however, he is defeated, brainwashed and convinced that he loves Big Brother. Is he any less of a hero because a hopelessly corrupt and evil institution managed to break his spirit? The answer may not necessarily be yes, but the brain is that it is a point of debate, and casts enough doubt upon the validity of the original statement to warrant further examination. The idea of a hero can encompass so many characteristics, and to avoid playing the semantics game one must assign only a few, perhaps the possession of morality or of great leadership. accounting is full of persons, however, which could have been heroes under different circumstances but simply drew the short end of the stick or inadvertently used their talents for malevolence. It is an rargon axiom that no villain thinks of himself as a villain, and this is proved by the actions of Hitler and Mussolini, Axis leaders during World War II. Both were skilled politicians, leaders, and propagandists, and in these esteem were no different than Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, the Allied directors who are customarily acknowledged as heroes by the general public. Conversely, everyone knows people who are intrinsically good but are not recognized as heroes, simply because they have yet to encounter a situation to bring out their morality and goodness. The vague abstractions of the term hero and the accompaniment that Emerson does not include a definition with his claim, makes its disproving an easy task perhaps if he had been more explicit it would be not only more tricky to contradict him but also more simple to identify who is a hero in our society and who is not.

Preferred Education Background for an Accountant
An comptroller can be defined as any person who carries come forward accounting task ilk preparation and presentation of financial reports to the policy makers so that they can make sound decisions, which will enable the organization to get hold of its goals. The scope of the accounting work depends entirely on the size of the organization and the individuals specialization. It is in this interest therefore this paper is written. The qualification of an accountant varies from one country to another and individuals specialization but basically it involves some education background and certification by a recognised body Accounting involves many financial calculations like balancing of sheets and therefore it is inevitable for people who are planning to take a career in accounting to be dependable and to have interest in mathematics, be analytical to compare and interpret fingers easily. Still to be noted here is the sizeableness of good written and spoken English.Preparation, anal ysis and presentation of financial reports require one to be good in both written and spoken English. Accountants should be able to clearly communicate their ideas and to air their views clearly to the managers and clients. Another important thing in accounting is the general knowledge in law like the business law as well as good understanding and interpretation of business terminologies. This comes in hardy when an individual is involved in tendering or taking contracts on behalf of the organization.Technology is another requirement, which cannot go unmentioned because of its importance in accounting. Accountants should be very familiar with business systems and office automation systems such as the accounting computer packages. Based on the above discussion, accountant as a career requires a minimum of Bachelors degree in business studies or any other field where the above mentioned areas are taught like statistics. Many companies in the modern society need accountants with Master s Degrees in business establishment with specialization in accounting. The state requires all accountants to be certified for them to be recognized. The certified public accountant certificate CPA is issued by the state by means of the state board of accountancy. Some states in America require accountants to be university graduates while others demand some working experience in the field of accounting. The later seems to have been adopted by many states together with the corresponding curriculum changes and therefore it is important to scrutinize the requirements of the sate in which they are planning to story with.Citification involves four sections of CPA examination in all the states which is set and marked by the American institute of certified public accountants. Passing examination in the four sections is important for one to be certified. Although it is not necessary to pass all the four sections exam at once, many states puts a limit of ii exams compounded by considerable experience for them to give you credit. It is important to understand that one cannot proceed to the next section before passing the previous sections. In conclusion therefore, accounting is a dynamic and noble career which requires determined people to succeed. It was pointed out that accounting requires individuals of high integrity, high amplitude in mathematics, good written and spoken English and analytical people. It was also discussed that the minimum qualification is a Bachelors degree in business studies or any other relevant courses. Certification is inevitable and involves passing four exams in the four sections.

Political Climate of the 1970s Essay
Consider for just a moment the following scenario the United States finds it egotism tangle in a war for which no foreseeable end is in sight. The chairwoman finds himself on the low end of the approval polls and the American race ar staging protests against the war that the chairman is dedicated to waging. While this sounds like it was getting evenn from the headlines of today, and indeed it could be, but it just as well applies to the era of president Richard Nixon and the age of the Vietnam War. This essay will focus on several facets of Nixon, the war he led, and the scandal that ultimately ended his administration, but created echoes that are heard regular(a) today.Political and Social Outcomes of the End of the War in VietnamThe Vietnam War, of phone line created all of the sadness, caution and concern that all wars throughout history have created. Additionally, there are definite political and social outcomes from the war that still echo in the American psyche decades after the official end to the war itself. Politically, Vietnam was a impolite awakening for the American political/military machine because this war represented the first time that the US was engaged in a war that it did not win. While there is lingering debate as to whether the Vietnam War was lost, few can debate that the war was not decisively won by US troops. From this political fallout came several social consequences for the American plurality. With the potential that the US could not defeat collectivism in any specific way, the American people began to doubt the effectiveness of their government more so than at any other time in history. Not all people doubted the governments potency, however, and this gave rise to two sides that would start to debate one another starting in the Vietnam era and continuing into the present day (Gilbert, 2001).Lastly, the end of Vietnam led to a general distrust of the government as a whole, as stories began to leak out about the backroom mi litary planning, lack of accurate information being released to the public, and what more saw as a war that was lost not because of an undefeatable enemy but because of an American military that was too mired in political infighting and self interest to win any war.A Comparison of Nixons Policies of Engagement and Cold War StrategiesDuring the Cold War, Richard Nixon held true to one overriding philosophy- Peace with innocence. This simple statement has far reaching implications because of several considerations about the Vietnamese War. Eventually, Nixon came to realization that the war was one that could not be won for several reasons. First, American troops were utilizing conventional military techniques in an unconventional war, fought against an enemy that used hidden tunnels, soldiers without noticeable uniforms, and primitive forms of terrorism such as suicide bombers who would explode explosives in the midst of American soldiers, killing them by the dozens at a time. Seco nd, what was really being fought in Vietnam was not another army, but a massive social and political machine called Communism. The forces behind Communism stretched far beyond the borders of Vietnam and represented a foe that would never really be overcome in conventional battle. What these facts meant for Nixon, and indeed for the entire nation was that while it may be possible for the United States to be able to withdraw from the war in Vietnam, there really was no way for the war to be won or for Communism to be defeated in the way that physical enemies are neutralized (Katz, 1997). Nixons mindset was indicative of the Cold War strategies used both before and after the years that Nixon led the nation. It was long acknowledged that Communism was a force that was not able to be fought and defeated like an army might be able to be fought and defeated, but that it would have to grapple against and democracy protected and promoted, likewise bringing about Peace with Honor as Nixon ad vocated.Measure the Impact of the Watergate Scandal on Public Perception of politics PowerPresident Richard Nixon, in the early 1970s, found himself entangled in the Vietnam War but also faced with the possibility that he would not be re-elected to the presidency in the upcoming election. With the pursuit of that re-election in mind, it now is apparent that Nixon was involved in planning, and trying to cover up, the burglary of the Democratic national headquarters in the scandal that would come to be known as Watergate. In the aftermath of Watergate, public perception of government spot was changed forever. During the 1970s, much of the general public, in particular proposition those of college age, did not trust the government because of what they saw as an unjust war in Vietnam and the accompanying withholding of information about the war itself which was viewed by more as a government conspiracy to deliberately mislead the public in the pursuit of self interests on the part of government officials, from the president himself and downwardly into the ranks of the US government (Genovese, 2004). This distrust led to the mantra dont trust anyone over the age of 30, as young Americans viewed their elders as selfish power grabbers who were using the blood of the youth to serve their own means. The mistrust of the government likewise had effects on the presidency that has repeated itself in almost either subsequent administration since Nixon resigned in the heat of Watergate. Whether one looks at the Clinton, Reagan, or Bush(es) administrations, there are examples where the Nixon-era suspicion of the government comes out, as allegations are made that the president is more concerned with public approval and his own well-being than he is in being honest and forthcoming with the citizens of the nation (Genovese, 2004). Skepticism can of course be healthy or destructive, especially in evaluating the government. The trick, going forward, will be for Americans to re cognize the difference between being aware of the governments actions and petty criticisms that are driven by political self interest and not what is best for the nation as a whole.ConclusionIn this essay, the other(prenominal) and present has been brought together. This linking of historys events makes it possible to realize that the more things change, the more that they seem to remain the same. It also makes it possible to understand that events do not take place in isolation from other events that came before them, but there is an historic influence of the past on the events of the present and will eventually reckon the events of the future. This also brings about the old adage that those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. If political leaders and even the average person on the street fail to pay attention to what has happened before and do something better, no good will come of it.

The effect of disagreement in geometric parameters such as width and burdensomeness of fold & evidence push-down stack (PM) on crosssensitivity are studied. Optimization of cross-sensitivity by varying geometrical parameters has been attempted. This paper deal s with simulations of skewed type (Flexure orthogonal to proof mass) and planar type (Flexure in plane with Proof mass) organise for cross-axis sensitivity analysis. The simulation and modeling has been carried using Coventorware MEMSCAD software. Keywords Inertial sensor, Cross-sensitivity, MEMSCAD, FEM. 1 Introduction Micromachined accelerometers are widely used in many applications. Large number of scientists all over the world are working on MEMS based acceleration sensors that are mostly either capacitive or of piezoresistive type. A piezoresistive type of acceleration sensor basically consists of a proof-mass attached to a micro-cantilever (Flexure) all made kayoed of silicon. 1-4. For piezoresistive accelerometer sensitivity S is delineate as relative change in resistance per unit of acceleration. chase mathematical equation defines relation between sensor proportionalitys and its sensitivity 5. Equation for sensitivity can be written as S = K . g . L t 2 (In Pa. ) Eq. 1 Where, S is the sensitivity stress level, g is the applied acceleration, t is burdensomeness of crimper in m, L is length of flexure in m, K is the constant of proportionality. An accelerometer is expected to become only one sensitive axis. However, cantilever type of accelerometer is also sensitive in other direction. This undesired sensitivity is called as cross axis sensitivity.Cross axis sensitivity is the maximum sensitivity in the plane perpendicular to the sensitive direction relative to the sensitivity in the measuring direction. It is calculated as the geometric sum of the 1 sensitivities in two perpendicular directions in this plane 6. If Z is sensitive axis then cross sensitivity is defined as Eq 2 Where suffix (x, y, z) denotes axis in which sensitivity is measured. issuance of cross sensitivity is one of the most important design considerations. many an(prenominal) attempts absorb been made to reduce cross sensitivity by the accelerometer designers. 7-8. Since it is a structure deflecting under influence of inertial force, stress is developed in the flexure out-of-pocket to its bending. Therefore it can be stated that if the width of flexure is over overmuch greater than its oppressiveness the cross axis sensitivity will be low. Different types of mechanical designs and structures have been tried by designers to reduce cross-sensitivity effect. Efficient use of four-piezoresistors in bridge structure is mostly tried structure 7. some other way to reduce cross sensitivity is multi flexure accelerometer 8.However, all these structures have a major drawback, that is, they require more processing steps as tumefy as larger size on chip. In this paper, single cantilever type piezoresistive accelerometer is presented. The crosssensitivity is analysis is carried out by varying width as healthful as thickness of flexure and proof mass. Paper discusses simulations carried out for skewed and planner structure accelerometer using Coventorware sof tware. 2 Simulations Cantilever (Flexure) type of piezoresistive accelerometer is modeled and sour using Coventorware 2003 software. Fig. shows Skewed type acceleration sensor structure, in which Flexure is perpendicular to proof mass and sensitive axis is Y-axis. The sensor is modeled with proof mass having dimension of 2000m X 400m X 200m (LxWxH) and flexure is having dimensions of blowm X 50m X 12m (LxWxH). In this structure, flexure width is in Z-axis and flexure thickness is in Y-axis. Fig. 2 shows the planar type of accelerometer of the higher up dimension, in which flexure is in plane with Proof Mass. In this case, flexure width in Y-axis, thickness is in Z-axis. Z-axis is sensitive axis.Simulation is carried out using MemMech solver. The scoop shovel stress values are considered for discussion in terms of sensitivity. Z Y X Fig 1 Skewed piezoresistive Accelerometer Fig 2 two-dimensional Piezoresistive Accelerometer 2 Simulations are carried out to find cross-axis sensit ivity by varying flexure thickness & flexure width. Simulations are also carried out to find cross-axis sensitivity by varying thickness and width of proof mass. 3 Results and discussions 3. 1 Skewed structure (Fig 1) Simulations were carried out on skewed type of structure (of dimension mentioned in simulations above) by varying its lexure thickness. Flexure thickness is varied from 50 m to 200 m and flexure width is kept as 12 m. Skew structure response for variation in flexure thickness is shown in table No. 1. Here sensitive axis is Y-axis. Table 1 Cross axis sensitivity w. r. to variation in Flex thickness for skewed structure Flexure thickness In m 50 100 150 200 Sz Sx Sy (In MPa) (In MPa) (In MPa) 82 6. 5 340 22 1. 5 170 9. 8 0. 52 110 5. 6 0. 19 81 % Cross-Sensitivity 24. 19 12. 97 8. 92 6. 92 Thickness to width ratio 4. 17 8. 33 12. 50 16. 67It is observed that as the flexure thickness is ontogenyd while keeping the width same, cross axis sensitivity decreases but at the cost of sensitivity, which is not acceptable. To minimize this undesirable cross-sensitivity effect, structure is modified. In modified structure, flexure is in plane with proof mass. Fig no. 2 Further simulations are carried out with Planner structure. 3. 2 Planar Accelerometer Planner accelerometer of above-mentioned dimensions was simulated. Varying geometrical parameters worry thickness & width of proof mass as well as flexure simulations were carried out.The results are given in following paragraphs. Here sensitive axis is Z-axis. 3. 2. 1 Variations in flexure width(FW) Simulations are carried out in MEMMECH Solver by varying flexure width from 12m to 30 m while keeping flexure thickness same as 50 m. Following table shows effect of flexure width on sensitivity as well as cross-sensitivity. Table 2 Cross axis sensitivity for various flexure widths of planar structure Flexure Width (In m) 12 18 24 30 Sensitivity Sx Sy Sz(In MPa) (In MPa) (In MPa) 330 28 25. 2 150 13 11. 29 83 7 . 4 6. 34 54 4. 9 4. 07 % Cross axis Sensitivity 11. 42 11. 48 11. 74 11. 80 Thickness to width ratio 4. 7 2. 78 2. 08 1. 67 3 It can be seen from the above results that as thickness to width ratio reduces cross-sensitivity marginally increases but effecting drastic reduction in sensitivity of the sensor. 3. 2. 2 Variation in flexure thickness (FT) Simulations are carried out in MEMMECH solver by varying flexure thickness from 50 to 125 m. Following table shows effect of flexure thickness on sensitivity as well as cross-sensitivity. Table 3 Cross axis sensitivity for various flexure thickness of planar structure Flexure Width (In m) 50 75 100 125 Sensitivity Sx Sy Sz(In MPa) (In MPa) (In MPa) 330 28 25. 220 19 14 clx 14 8. 8 130 11 5. 9 % Cross sensitivity 11. 42 10. 73 10. 34 9. 60 Thickness to width ratio 4. 17 6. 25 8. 33 10. 42 The simulation results show noticeable reduction in cross-sensitivity as the thickness to width ratio increases. This is because as the flexure becomes m ore and more stiff, cross-sensitivity decreases. 3. 2. 3 Variation in Prof mass width (PMW) Simulations are carried out in MEMMECH solver by varying proof mass width. It is varied from 400m to curtilagem. Here the flexure dimensions are kept original as 100m X 50m X 12m (LxWxH).Following table shows the effect of proof mass width on sensitivity as well as crosssensitivity. Table 4 Effect of Proof-Mass Width variation on cross sensitivity of planar structure PM Width (In m) 400 600 800 1000 Sensitivity Sz(In MPa) 330 490 660 830 Sx (In MPa) 28 41 54 66 Sy (In MPa) 25. 2 37. 8 50. 5 63. 2 % Cross axis Sensitivity 11. 42 11. 38 11. 20 11. 01 It can be seen from above results that Variations in Proof mass width have negligible effect on cross sensitivity but helps to increase the sensor sensitivity by many folds. This is due to increase in proof-mass system of weights. 3. 2. Variation of Prof mass thickness (PMT) Simulations are carried out in MEMMECH solver by varying proof-mass thic kness. It is varied over from 50m to 200m. Here also the flexure dimensions are kept as 100m X 50m X 12m (LxWxH). Following table shows effect of proof mass thickness on sensitivity as well as cross-sensitivity. 4 Table 5 Effect of Proof-Mass thickness variation on cross sensitivity of planar structure PM Thickness (In m) 200 150 100 50 Sensitivity Sz(In MPa) 330 250 160 82 Sx (In MPa) 28 16 6. 8 1. 6 % Cross axis Sy Sensitivity = RMS of Sx (In MPa) &Sy / Sz 25. 2 11. 42 13. 57 8. 39 5. 47 5. 45 0. 95 2. 27It can be seen from above results that cross-sensitivity decreases considerably with decrease in Proof Mass thickness but at the heavy cost of sensitivity. This due to decrease in proof mass weight. Fig No. 3 gives summary of variation in cross-sensitivity with respect to each of the above discussed parameters. Cross axis of rotation Sensitivity for various geometrical parameters. 14. 00 12. 00 % cross-sen. 10. 00 8. 00 6. 00 4. 00 2. 00 0. 00 1 2 3 4 FT PMW FW PMT Fig 3 Graph of summary of variation in cross-sensitivity for geometrical parameters The proof mass width and flexure thickness doesnt have much impact on cross sensitivity. In case of flexure width variation, cross sensitivity decreases along with increase in flexure width. The bending stress caused by transverse acceleration in X, Y direction is much less then stress caused by desired acceleration in Z direction. Thus for low cross-sensitivity, Ratio of width to thickness should be high. These results have good agreements with earlier reported results 7-8 4) Conclusions A cross sensitivity effect is studied by varying geometrical parameter like thickness as well as width of flexure and proof mass. Following conclusions can be drawn from all of the above simulation Skewed structure has much higher cross-sensitivity as compared to planar type of structure for the same thickness to width ratio of flexure. (Compare values of in table 1 and 2 for thickness to width ratio of 4. 17). But they have simila r sensitivity. When Thickness to Width ratio is increased to 8. 33 in case of skewed structure its crosssensitivity drastically reduces but is still higher than plan structure. One can safely increase sensor sensitivity by increasing proof mass weight by increasing width in planar structure. Variations in flexure thickness and Proof Mass width doesnt affect cross ensitivity. For unwrap low cross-sensitivity, thickness to width ratio of flexure for planar type of design should be as low as possible and further sensitivity can be enhanced by increasing proof mass width. 5 Acknowledgements The authors thank ARDE, Pune, Ministry of Defence for funding the research work on breeding of micro accelerometer at University of Pune. 1999 Frq on the 1920s
The mid-twenties was a time of great economic growth. It was during the twenties that the United States of America became one of the richest countries of the world. The economic conditions during the 1920s had a huge effect on arts, merriment, and technology which represented the 1920s and making it known as the Roaring Twenties because of the revolutionary technology, frolic advances, and cultural changes. The Roaring twenties is preferably known for some of the new technology which became avail suitable to the public. One of the most significant examples of this was the automobile ndustry. Cars were a luxury sole(a) to the very rich before WWI and the 1920s. Now, with advancements in industry and factory production, cars were becoming a cheaper thing to barter for and more people were now able to obtain one. Banduraââ¬â¢s Social Cognitive Theory
Banduras social cognitive theory puts more emphasis on social origins of carriage. His social cognitive approach foc uptakes on cognitive factors that are central to human functioning. He defines human behavior as vibrant and reciprocal interaction of personal factors behavior and the environment. The theory contends that behavior is largely regulated through cognitive processes. He adds that through the observations of models, an individuals perceptions and action tempt cognitive development. Bandura gives three types of models live, symbolic and verbal instructions (Boeree, 2006).The theory states that listening can occur in the absence of direct reinforcement rather people can learn new information and behaviors by watching other people and models. In learning, the learner must have a sense of self-efficacy which is termed as the learners belief that they can execute complex skills successfully. This perception provides the learner with an ability of self- direction. The use of m odels influence learners self systems and as a result cognitive development becomes an separate process of observational learning.Additionally, observational learning involved four main steps which include attention, retention, counterpart and motivation. The implication in psychotherapy is that if you get an individual with a psychological disorder to observe individual dealing with the same issues in a wide productive fashion, the first individual will learn by modeling the second person.Bandura acknowledges that individuals behavior is conditioned through the use of consequences. In psychotherapy, research is very vital and behaviorism is the most preferred approach (Bandura, 2001).Another concept which is applied in psychotherapy is locale of control. For instance, when persons believe they can alter their situation, they are said to have an internal locus of control and when they believe they cannot alter their situations they are said to have an external locus of control.R eferencesBandura, A. Emerging possibilities and ongoing reforms Essay
In 21st century, nations ar increasingly becoming diverse, sphericised, and complex and media structured. This rapidly changing humans filled with fantastic new tribulations needs to be addressed using exciting new emergent possibilities. To get married new possibilities, modern statement sort outs are progressively driven by a emergence understanding of what works in schooling and how to go about productively improving precept and larn in schools. This essay go out focus on uphill possibilities and ongoing reform in primary election education that are necessary for 21st century learning and hence need to be embraced both loc completelyy and glob all toldy. This essay will include the elaboration on emerging technologies that are cosmos white plague with the purpose of make foring the global and local requirements and ongoing reforms on education such as Gonski for advance schools, Melbourne declaration that acknowledges major changes in the world that are placing new demands on Australian education and globalization. spate more or less the world are taking their education out of school into homes, libraries, internet cafes and workplaces, where they flock get back what they want to learn, when they want to learn and how they want to learn. (Colin, Allan et.al, 2009, p3).This new learning model uses technologies to enable people of all ages to pursue learning on their own terms. Traditional class room based, single teachers as instructor model of education has now been replaced by emerging technologies that are being developed constantly in todays fast moving digital world. It is an innovative engineering science that is reshaping the nature of education. Computer and earnings based technologies now hold great potential for increasing the access to tuition as tumefy as a means of promote learning.(schoolcomputing.wikia.com/wiki/Emerging_Technologies). It redefines the way educators teach and the role of sole source of information to bei ng a guide, facilitator and coach in the learning process. The major emerging technologies for primary education can be interactive whiteboard, I pads and cloud computing. Interactive whiteboard is designed to help bookmans learn variety of ship canal and for teachers to teach in a range of ways with the ability of using online resources and fun presentation. It is an emerging technology in Australia but globally corresponding UK it has been found to be successful and effective in teaching primary students (Torff & Toritta, 2010). Now what is the rationale for using interactive whiteboard in primary classroom? It pluss motivation and performance of student as teacherscan integrate flexibly a variety of pedagogical approaches and the power to efficiently deliver multimedia or multimodal presentation with a touch sensitive screen. It can also increase the student and teacher interaction and can make the teachers teaching process smoother and effective. An interesting particle of int eractive whiteboard is it allows students from different classroom around country and globally to interact through programs such as Skype or YouTube. This allows for an expansive online classroom, broadening the students own community of practice. Another form of emerging technology is the use of Ipad in the classroom, which is a creative, hands-on device which allows students through educational applications, eBooks and iTunes to engage with content interactively and instantly stick information moving away from the industrial era model where the classroom is the central learning place. wherefore do teachers might use Ipad in primary classroom? There are number of reasons why Ipad can be very beneficial emerging technology but one of the most expedient features is its sharing information, receiving updates and conducting research hence helpful in communicating and collaborating with the world outside the classroom. Ipad can be very useful tool to interact with others around the wo rld so it connects and create extended learning. utmost emerging new technology for 21st century learner is cloud computing. It refers to as the future of education and storing and accessing of applications and computer data often through web browser rather than running installed software on personal computer. (www.cloudcomputingdefined.com). It is an interactive tool where student and teacher can instantaneously collaborate both in and out of the classroom and learn in real time with instant feedback. Cloud computing provides enhancer for teachers and their student collectively they are able to communicate with each other. What is the rational for cloud computing being a useful emerging technology for 21st century learner? One of the reasons it can be useful is its versatility as it can be accessed from home or school therefore great for collaborative assessments or group based projects. This new technology will encourage students to develop and maintain ICT skills (http//cloud-com puting3100.wikispaces.com/ rule+for+cloud+computing). The driving force behind educational reform comes from new technologies that greatly enhance educational opportunities. These new emerging technologiesallow the improved pedagogy that will revolutionize learning. ( Molebash, 1999). In 21st century, present availability of ICT had significant implications on education. A significant reform is needed in education, world-wide, to respond to figure of speech global trends. Systematic education reform is needed that include curriculum like National education agreement, pedagogy, teacher curriculumning and school organization like GONSKI reform. (Mcgaw, 2009, p1).Earlier this social class, Skidmore and Carmicheal mentioned in The Telegraph UK that reform is not only necessary, it is essential if we are to control that pupils are equipped with the knowledge and skills for the twenty first century.(Skidmore and Carmicheal, 2013). being able to do my practical placement at Garfield Barwick School managed by Royal Institute of deafen and Blind Children (RIDBC), I realized that there is a huge requirement of special education teachers not only in Australia but globally. In England, an education reform is passed where parents are given control oer their childrens special education needs (SEN) budgets, allowing them to choose expert support rather than local authorities being the sole provider. (Quinn and Malik, 2012). This is described as being the biggest reform of SEN for 30 years. However, while this reform introduce hope, it create anxiety among parents too, as it divides children into two groups School Action and School Action plus. Lorraine Peterson, chief decision maker officer of the Nation Association of SEN, fears teachers could be left with endless lists of pupils and too little expertise as to how to deal with them (Shepherd, 2012).Furthermore ,there is also a concern in relate to this reform that what impact it will have of forward planning and co -ordination of putting budgets in the hands of many individuals and families, keeping in judging that not all parents are best advocates of their childrens needs hence will not be able to provide the best expert assistance for their children. (Shepherd, 2012). This is one of the drawbacks of SEN reform in England. In relation to that, Australian government has deferred this reform since 2009 in order to allow more time for further consultation.( supererogatory education reform put on hold ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), 2009). An article by Philip Garner and Fiona Forbes in 2012 mentioned that Australia is appeared to slow down in some areas of special education and appearing to adopt wait and see approach. (Garner and Forbes, 2012, P 62).Currently Australia is investing $550 million in Improving Teacher character reference NationalPartnership, in this reform agenda, priority and highest status should be given to inclusive environment to ensure that schools are g iven best possible teachers to be inclusive for the special need education. (Garner and Forbes, 2012, P 65). supernumerary education need reform is not particularly focused topically but globally like UK it is getting implemented. The core principal behind this reform is proper funding to school and teacher training to allow every child to receive world class education and Australia is endeavoring to establish a reform around SEN.Gonski reform can correlate to SEN reform as it focuses on the funding of schools to support their student and help teachers to receive additional training and support, from pre-service teachers to principals. Under Better School Plans commencement in 2014, it is a plan to improve results of all schools and students by introducing education reforms that evidently improves results. This plan is based on tailfin core areas 1.Quality teaching2.Quality learning3.Empowered school leadership4.Meeting student need5.Greater transparency and accountabilityThis pla n aims to take Australian schools into top five by 2025 (What is the Better Schools Plan?, n.d. ). Therefore why do we need this plan? This plan is mandatory to meet the international standard as it has been revealed that even though Australian schools are good, our performance is declining and a greater gap has developed between highest and lowest acting students. The recent review of funding of schooling stumbled on current school funding do not fulfill the requirements necessary to meet the educational needs of all students (What is the Better Schools Plan?, n.d. ). In my file of view, Melbourne Declaration on education goals for Young Australians can articulate better school plans core reforms by overarching two goals for schooling in Australia where one goal promote equity and excellence in schools and second making creative individuals and active and informed citizen. Under this declaration, local education goals can collaborate with global education goals. The Melbourne Decla ration supports National Education Agreement which articulates the commitment of Australian government to ensure that all Australian school students acquire theknowledge and skills to participate effectively in society and employment in a globalised economy. (educational goals ACARA, 2009). This National Education Agreement (NEA) has been made between the Commonwealth of Australia and all State and territories. The primeval objective of this agreement is to enable Australian students to compete with world and participate effectively. Under this agreement, the state extraneous curriculum is abandoned and standardized curriculum is introduced which is called national curriculum. It is ongoing reform and changes to curriculum is commencing from next year starting from English then moving into Mathematics and Science. Consequently, all of these reforms are in cooperating emerging possibilities to meet the local and global requirement.(National Education Agreement, 2012). To meet the p ace and acceleration of 21st century, these emerging technologies need to be embraced and in doing so reforms need to be constructed, this way we will achieve success both locally and globally. In conclusion, education is transformed by emerging possibilities and in this technology rich environment, one must remember that educational focus is on learning and instructional goal instead of technology itself, because technologies are merely tools or vehicles to deliver instruction and are just driving force for education reform. These emerging technologies shift the local education scale to global and hence promote to develop reform around these new emerging possibilities so we can meet the global standard. Thus, for successful 21st century learner, emerging possibilities and ongoing reforms are necessary and need to be embraced both locally and globally.ReferencesCloud Computing Defined. (n.d.). Love in the Cornhusks
LOVE IN THE CORNHUSKS By Aida Rivera hybridization SettingThestoryhappensinaBarrio. ClimaxTinangdiscoversafterreadingthe jazzletterfromher originallove, Amado, that she is still loved by him. However, by then, she is already married to a Bagobo and has a son with him. chemical reaction Aida Rivera Ford, according to my research, has lived with her husband in their large farm in Davao, the place where I live as well. In connection to this, the short-circuit story of Love in the Cornhusks is fewhow related with her life resembling its barrio-setting and the characteristics ofthe Characters as well.Perhaps, the main character is a woman based on the fact that the writer of this short story is a woman too. The story is very simple, easy to understand and yet realistic. It begins in a situation where the main character, Tinang, starts her day as she visits her Senora with a good vibe that shifted to a different champion lately. The author made the life of Tinang centered between two men. The Bagobo, her husband, and Amado do non speak in the story but they ar characterized differently with each another(prenominal). It appears that her husband, the Bagobo, is a simple man, whom is satisfied of being a farmer with the 2 hect ars of land for his family. On one hand, Amado, the one she loved before her husband, is portrayed as a tractor driver, whom wears formal clothes every Saturday and a yet man who gives importance to his future as he wants to study mechanical engineering someday. I see in the story that in life, choices are given to us and yet what we have to do is to discern and stand in the decision we whitethorn select.Hence, marrying is not a joke and to marry the Bagobo is not just a coincidence in Tinangs life but it is her decision when she did so, even if she did not come yet the reason why Amado had all at once gone. The last part of the story has some symbolic figures. Tinang still loves Amado even after she got married to her husband. adaptatio n the letter is a moment when Tinangs feeling for Amado has reawakened. To cry is the initiatory thing she does, then, she tries to recollect her first go outs with him. A snake comes inthe scene sneaking towards her baby.As I analyze it, I see that snake is the representation of such discovery and poses threat towards her relationship with her family. Why the snake is going to her baby? It is because that snake, if Tinang lets herself be taken by her emotion, can destroy her relationship with her Bagobo husband. Indeed, the snake is about to attack her son for he is the symbol and the fruit of the love that she and her husband shared together. In the end of the story, the authors symbolisms are saying that Tinang chooses to accept the consequences in the decision she made in her life.First, she stands up from her sitting position heavy that life must go on then she embraced the babytelling that she has to embrace her own consequences and situatedness and specially the people wh om God has given to her next, she prayed and beg the almighty not to punish her after thinking other things outside from her married lifesaying that she realizes that her thoughts are wrong afterwards, she checks the skin of the baby searching for some marksshowing the possible scars in her married life after reincarnating the feelings she once had with Amado and the last one, the letter fell unnoticed among the cornhusksaying that she leaves that momentum without knowing that her very strong feeling and longing to Amado, if is not totally gone yet, is at least eased and is left among the cornhusks, which is meant to be consider as save a past of her life. REFLECTION Destiny is not a matter of chance, but of choice. This is a celebrated saying I have been hearing since my early teenage years. After reading the story, I am affirmed that a relationship tantamount to what Tinang and Amado had is not always certain. Life is full of twisting events and compassionate beings have to un derstand that decisions done in every moment must be discerned well and its consequences should be accepted. If I were Tinang, I would surely find myself too thinking about the other possibilities that could happen in my life if I did not marry the Bagobo. However, though it is a little bit painful, I know that I cannot rewind anymore the time and what I have to is to accept that life is like that. We tend to experience the excruciating consequences of our hasty or even faulty decisions in order for us to become a better and mature person someday in making decisions once again in our life. Hence, love in the cornhusk, as it is portraying that life has to be dealt with acceptance, I learn that at the end of the day, I must reserve a part of myself a chance of being able to move on and cope with the excruciating moments I may face in the future.

End of Year Academic Goal Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
annihilate of Year Academic Goal - Essay ExampleI have selected this goal beca do students are getting knowledge without key implementation, which is detrimental to their learning behavior. Working with children with special necessitate is antithetic because it relies on different strategies to achieve the learning goals. Undoubtedly, patience and hard work are required. However, I strongly recall that students requisite be able to apply the theories and pedagogies they learned at school in real life. Children with special needs require more attention. Based on careful analysis, everyday conversational skills such as writing, reading, and collaborationism tooshie truly solidify the foundation of the students cognitive and linguistic skills. Thus, the goal would be to create customized programs for them so that their needs are accommodated. Strategies I firmly believe that implementing methodologies acquired at school initiates from plentiful students real life examples. As a student myself, I had a huge challenge acquiring and embedding these skills in actual life. In order for students to implement these strategies, it is crucial for them to get exposed to real-life scenarios in which they can be able to compare and contrast their acquired skills. For instance, increasing their proficiency would mean placing them individually or in small groups and explaining the concepts to them through real-life methodology. If they are able to translate the terms and jargon they acquired in class, I highly believe that this issue can be addressed. The next main thing would be to collaborate. Collaborating is undoubtedly essential in order to thrive in any profession as the thoughts of ideas, knowledge, and practices are exchanged. Quite often, students effort to socialize in a pre-dominant learning environment. Hence, the true goal here is to foster an environment in which peers collaborate with each other that can critically be a constant reminder of their ever -growing knowledge. Researchers believe that auditory and verbal comprehension skills are two key aspects that a special kid needs in order to thrive and gain knowledge. Thus, the focus result be centered on severalise Instruction at the middle school level. Indisputably, each student has a unique set of literacy phylogenesis needs. At this level, the focus will be to break down students in groups of 5 or less(prenominal) and harness their reading skills by teaching the group a special skill. Moreover, planning the lessons in which real-life problems will be addressed will be focused upon young people. Furthermore, modified and customized lessons along with telling the students to either discuss or write a summary will be enacted. Teachers can generally focus on teaching their students the basic fundamentals of the syntax and not worry about adding complex words and definitions that work out the process. Teachers can add academic value to these lessons by integrating simple jar gon that is easy to comprehend, acknowledge, and implement. The use of story problems and application methods should also be enacted. Lastly, it is essential that the students best practice their skills when engaged in a group environment. Goal is not reached In these particular situations, it is crucial to utilize an alternative method of sagacity to determine the students learning comprehension. If students are not up to par with their academic proficiency, there will be drastic changes. It is undoubtedly a struggle for children with special needs
